Birdsville Races
Each September crowds of up to 8000 people fly and drive into Birdsville for the annual Birdsville Races, which has been called ‘the Melbourne Cup of the outback’.
Historically the races were first held in 1882.
In the last 20 years it has become a legendary outback event with a two day race meeting featuring up to 13 races.
Funds are raised in aid of the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia.
