Barellan Working Clydesdales Good Old Days Festival
The Barellan Working Clydesdales Good Old Days Festival is held annually over the NSW October long weekend at the Barellan Showground.
The Good Old Days Festival is one of the nationโs most unique events authentically recreating and celebrating our nationโs pioneer heritage.
The event offers two fantastic days of demonstrations, competitions and displays of working horses and farming methods used in years past.
The Festival is also the largest gathering of harnessed draught animals โ horses, bullocks, camels, donkeys, mules and goats โ in Australia.
It showcases Barellan Working Clydesdale horses as Gentle Giants and enriches patrons of all generations with an educational and engaging rural heritage experience.
Held on the long weekend in October each year, the not-for-profit event is run by volunteers and contributes funds back into the regional community.
Early farming practices showcased include horse and bullock drawn ploughs, binders, wool wagons and a mallee roller.
The Barellan Working Clydesdales Good Old Days Festival also celebrates the iconic water cart with a Furphy Festival featuring rebarrelling demonstrations, Furphy collectables and Furphy trains.
Having experienced first-hand how their ancestors lived and worked on the land, visitors will take away with them a greater appreciation of the pioneers of the glorious Riverina region of NSW.
